Ben Affleck beer ad yanked

Ben Affleck
HOLLYWOOD - Radio ads that have Ben Affleck touting Samuel Adams beer have been pulled from rotation by the company, The Associated Press reports.

Additionally, an image on the Sam Adams Web site--portraying Affleck holding a bottle of beer in his hand--was pulled Monday.

The Boston Beer Co., which produces the Sam Adams label, has decided that the ads were inappropriate to run because Affleck (Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Good Will Hunting) recently checked himself into an alcohol abuse rehabilitation facility.

Last week, Affleck voluntarily checked himself into Promises, an exclusive and expensive rehabilitation center in Malibu, Calif. Promises is a live-in rehabilitation center at the top of Malibu's cliffs, costs $33,850 a month and counts Charlie Sheen as a former resident. It was Sheen who helped arrange a room for Affleck at Promises, People magazines reports.

"The Boston Beer Company respects Ben Affleck, his decision, and we wish him well,'' a statement released Wednesday by the company read.

Affleck's father, Tim, is a recovering alcoholic, who has been sober for 11 years, and is now a drug rehab counselor in Southern California.

Affleck turns 29 years old on Aug. 15.
