Bin Laden a stand-in for Ernie in anti-U.S. protests
HOLLYWOOD - Sesame Workshop (formerly Children's Television Workshop) issued a statement Wednesday expressing consternation over news photos showing pro-Taliban supporters in Pakistan carrying placards featuring a montage of Osama bin Laden with the Muppet Bert standing next to him in a portion of the montage. "We're outraged that our characters would be used in this unfortunate and distasteful manner," the statement said. "We are exploring all legal options to stop this abuse and any similar abuses in the future."
