HOLLYWOOD - Movie hunk Brad Pitt was released from hospital July 13 and is recovering at his Los Angeles home after being diagnosed with viralmeningitis.
The Ocean's Twelve star checked himself into LA's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on July 11 after he began feeling unwell following an appearance
at a motorcycle speedway event in California last weekend.
The 41-year-old actor recently visited east Africa with his Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, prompting medics to question whether his flu-like symptoms were something more serious.
He was later diagnosed with viral meningitis, an infection that causes an
inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord and is often
transferred through mosquito bites.
But the illness is rarely fatal in people with strong immune systems, so Pitt
was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon to recuperate at home.
His publicist Cindy Guagenti says, "The actor is at home and doing well."
