Britney Spears' 'Criminal' Video Upsets British Hackney Council

So apparently crime really doesn't pay. Britney Spears recently shot a video in London for her song Criminal, but the plot and overall theme of the footage was not appreciated by some officials. Apparently, the British government is unhappy that Spears acted out an armed robbery in the video and they think the pop star owes them an apology. In the clip, Spears and her real life boyfriend Jason Trawick hold up a store at gunpoint -- Britney is holding pistol while Trawick is wearing a ski mask and carrying a duffel bag as they flee the scene of the "crime." But since the city is still recovering from the massive riots that took place earlier in the year, the government deems the skit highly inappropriate. So Britney is once again in trouble with the law (go figure).

Councillor Ian Rathbone, of the Hackney Council told Digital Spy, "I think she should apologize and make a sizeable donation to a Hackney charity that deals with young people for the rudeness and damage she's done to this community." Evidently anything can be forgiven as long as money is involved I suppose. The Council itself told London Tonight that, "In this case we did not agree that a replica gun could be used at Stoke Newington Town Hall and we are disappointed. We will be raising this matter with the production company." None of the members of the Council must be big fans of Spears because if they'd listened to the song, the lyrics might have tipped them off that some"violence" was bound to ensue at some point in the video and they possibly could've stopped it. Live and learn, I guess. No word yet on if the pop diva plans on apologizing or contributing any money to Hackney for the misunderstanding.
