HOLLYWOOD - Actor Bruce Willis has slammed the predictable nature of the action movie genre--and has called on directors to occasionally kill off the hero. The Die Hard star believes film fans don't always want an action film's
central character to save the day, insisting Hollywood studios should begin
tampering with the tried-and-tested format.
Willis tells British magazine Maxim, "They (the films) ran out of gas, and
they ran out of bad guys. The genre started eating itself.
"You have to offer something more intriguing. It goes back to the films of
Otto Preminger, or the thrillers Alfred Hitchcock made, where you never know
what is going to happen next."
Willis recently signed up to reprise his famous John McClane role in upcoming
sequel Die Hard 4.0.
