Tim Burton to Direct 'Alice'

Tim Burton
HOLLYWOOD - Eccentric moviemaker Tim Burton is to revamp Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland story--as a 3-D spectacular.

The Sweeney Todd director will take charge of the performance-capture movie as part of a new two-picture deal with Walt Disney Studios.

The other film Burton will direct for Disney will be a full feature adaptation of his 1984 short film Frankenweenie--about a ghost dog--which was shown as a prelude to The Nightmare Before Christmas, another Disney film.

Shock rocker Marilyn Manson is believed to be among those Burton is considering casting for his Alice film. Sources claim Manson is interested in playing author Carroll.
