HOLLYWOOD - Cameron Diaz's father, Emilio, died from pneumonia on Tuesday, the actress has confirmed.
The actress has paid tribute to her late dad, who was just 58 years old, in a newly released statement to the press.
She says, "My mom, sister and I are deeply appreciative of the overwhelming outpouring of love and support during this difficult time for us and all of our family. My dad was loved by so many people and his humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts."
According to reports, Seal Beach, California, resident Emilio--an oil company foreman--died after a bout of flu developed into pneumonia.
Production on the actress' movie My Sister's Keeper has been halted following the news.
