DreamWorks has acquired an original comedy pitch from writer Les Firestein entitled Raised by Wolfs.

The project has Steve Carell attached to star and produce through his Carousel Prods., says the Risky Business blog. The plotline is under wraps but the odd spelling of “Wolfs” is apparently a reference to the main character’s last name.

Vance DeGeneres and Charlie Hartsock of Carousel are executive producers.

Carell will next be seen in Dinner for Schmucks, which opens Friday. Yesterday, NBC confirmed that the actor will leave The Office after one more season.

As a producer at Carousel, Carell has the comedies Missing Links, Mail-Order Groom and Hi-T set up at Warner Bros.

Firestein was head writer on In Living Color, an executive producer of The Drew Carey Show and co-created the Fox series Wanda at Large. He also has a pilot set up with 3 Arts Entertainment at Comedy Central called Nocturnal Mission, says THR. Further, he is reworking the screenplay for the comedy Don’t Send Help for producer David Friendly at Fox.
