"Cast Away" sales rocket
HOLLYWOOD - Since its June 12 release, Tom Hank's Cast Away has sold more than 1.8 million DVDs, grossing nearly $36 million retail by Wednesday, Fox sources told the Hollywood Reporter. The film falls behind Gladiator, which holds the initial sales record for a two-disc set with nearly two million units sold in its first five days. The film debuted Dec. 22 in theaters and grossed $233.5 million. The DVD includes extra features, such as interview with Hanks and commentary by director Robert Zemeckis.
