HOLLYWOOD - George Wendt and John Ratzenberger, who played beer drinking buddies Norm and Cliff on the hit TV show Cheers, have received a settlement agreement from Paramount Pictures in their lawsuit against the studio for the use of their likeness, Reuters reports. The Supreme Court let a California Appeals Court ruling--that the 1993 lawsuit against Paramount had merit--stand, paving the way for the settlement. Paramount had licensed their images for life-size robots to be installed at airport bars without their permission. No word on the settlement figure was forthcoming.
