China Bans Live Action/Animation Films

HOLLYWOOD - Film authorities in China are banning cartoon animations that feature live actors in an attempt to promote Chinese animators.

China's State Administration of Radio Film and Television are yet to announce which shows will be affected, but described them as "so-called cartoons that mainly feature real people and only occasionally have computer-generated elements."

The administration wishes to ban most foreign cartoons, meaning shows such as the British Teletubbies and the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? may be prohibited.

They also said that anyone found to be disobeying the new rule will be punished.
