If you do the crime you have to do the time. That's what a judge basically told Chris Brown yesterday during a court appearance. Since the R&B star has been on good behavior for the past few months, his attorney suggested that Brown no longer be on supervised probation, given how well he's been doing. To be clear, the reason he's serving probation in the first place is due to the assault on his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, in 2009. So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the judge denied the plea and ordered Brown to remain under the watchful eye of a probation officer for the duration of his sentence. (In other words, HELL TO THE NO!)
Here's how it all went down. Brown's attorney argued that the singer has been honest with probation officers, passed all of his drug tests and has "made great strides" while under supervision. The attorney also mentioned that he has completed half of six months of community service, including roadside cleanup and graffiti removal. But even so, Judge Goerge Lomeli ruled that the star should remain under supervision until he completes more of his community service hours. I guess justice really can prevail in the end.
Additionally, reports are claiming that Brown won't be participating in any Grammy red carpet interviews in order to avoid answering any Rihanna-related questions. An insider stated, "Chris just wants to do his performance, and let his music speak for him. Chris and Rihanna have both moved on from what happened, and Chris has accepted responsibility for his actions." I guess it's probably for the best, especially since that means Rihanna can walk the red carpet without having to worry about bumping into him -- the press pit would have a field day.
Both stars are scheduled to perform that night at the Grammy Awards. Be on the lookout for any side-eye glances. The Grammys air live this Sunday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
