'Chronicle' Director Eyed for 'Fantastic Four' Reboot

Fox is mighty confident about its upcoming sci-fi found-footage flick, Chronicle. How confident, you ask? Confident enough to hire the film's director, Josh Trank, to helm its planned Fantastic Four reboot. Variety reports that Trank is now the current frontrunner revive the Marvel Comics title, left dormant after 2007's mediocre Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. There is a caveat, however: Fox reportedly won't officially extend the offer to Trank until after seeing the box-office returns for Chronicle's opening weekend, which just happens to coincide with this year's Super Bowl. So while most of us are watching Tim Tebow put the triumphant finishing touches on his improbable season, poor Josh will be sweating the latest box-office updates from Paul Dergarabedian.
