George Clooney's Las Ramblas Still On Despite Vegas Property Slump

George Clooney
HOLLYWOOD - George Clooney is planning a major announcement about his Las Ramblas hotel project in Las Vegas, Nevada, after weeks of speculation suggesting the actor is set to pull out of Sin City.

Clooney and top club boss Randy Gerber--husband of Cindy Crawford--are among the investors in an ambitious new complex, set to open in Vegas next year, but with so many big development plans falling flat in the desert, Clooney is keen to prove his luxury hotel and spa is still a real deal.

His planned announcement, reportedly set for later this week, comes on the back of Miami, Florida, developer Jorge Perez's decision to cancel a high-profile Las Vegas residential project, due to "a decrease in market high-rise sales, lawsuits and rising construction costs".

Perez is also among the partners involved in the Las Ramblas project. A spokesman for Clooney and Gerber's hotel and spa development says, "Las Ramblas is moving forward. In fact, the development team for Las Ramblas is currently in the advanced stages of negotiations with hotel partners and we plan to make an announcement soon."
