Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has won his bid to have the age rating of his latest film Bruno lowered by movie watchdogs -- but only after re-editing the picture to suit the censors.
In the comedy's first review by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), it was given an NC-17 cinema rating, which would prevent anyone under the age of 17 from seeing the movie.
Rating officials were initially concerned over several sexually explicit scenes, with the MPAA citing the film's "pervasive strong and crude sexual content, graphic nudity and language" as the reason behind the adults-only certification.
However, after returning to the editing suite, Cohen has landed the movie an R rating, meaning that under-17s will now be able to watch the film if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The film is a follow-up to Cohen's cult hit Borat and follows his outrageous Austrian fashion-forward character Bruno as he attempts to make it big in Hollywood.
Bruno is expected to be released in July.
