Bosses at comic book powerhouse Marvel Entertainment have delayed the release of two upcoming blockbusters -- The Avengers and Thor.

Fans looking forward to the planned Avengers movie will have to wait another two years, as the multi-character film -- featuring Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, the Hulk and Captain America -- has been pushed back until 2012.

Thor, to be directed by Kenneth Branagh, was slated for release in 2010 but has now been delayed until summer 2011.

The move means there will be four superhero blockbusters hitting theaters in the summer of 2011: Iron Man 2, The First Avenger: Captain America, Thor and the fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise.
