It appears that Sony Pictures plans to resurrect Frankenstein's monster from the dead once again.
According to Deadline, Matt Tolmach -- who's also producing the new Spider-Man reboot -- is the man responsible for deal, which is being pitched as a "contemporary version of the Mary Shelley novel." The most recent spin on the classic novel was back in 1994, when Robert de Niro played The Creature. Don't remember that? That's okay. Frank Caliendo can sum it up for you.
Surprisingly, the idea of a modern twist on Frankenstein sounds pretty awesome. I'm picturing an insane scientist living in an old New York City apartment spending all of his days and nights in his kitchen-laboratory, mixing potions and chemicals, eating take-out and laughing diabolically until finally bringing his monster to life. Or, in short, a biopic on my current landlord.
And oh yeah, one more thing. It's pronounced Fr-ONK-enstEEN.
