Bill Cosby Accused of Manipulating Media

Bill Cosby
HOLLYWOOD - Bill Cosby was yesterday accused of seeking "star treatment" in his sexual assault trial by his accuser's lawyers.

The legal representatives for the unnamed woman, who claims she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the comedy actor in 2004, appealed to U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno to lift the temporary seal on court filings.

They alleged that by discussing his case in three media interviews, the 68-year-old comedian is attempting to prejudice the case.

Lawyer Dolores M. Troiani said, "We are being prejudiced. Mr. Cosby went out and sought publicity. Mr. Cosby is not entitled to star treatment."

But Cosby's attorney, Patrick J. O'connor, argued the plaintiff's legal team wanted to release "incriminating" and "salacious" information in a bid to win the case.

The judge did not immediately rule, but previously refused Cosby's request for a gag order to prevent publication of the names of 12 other women who also claim they were assaulted by the star.

Cosby says he gave the woman, who is in her mid-30s, Benadryl after she complained of stress and sleeping problems.
