HOLLYWOOD - Funnyman Billy Crystal was horrified when he learned his first girlfriend became a lesbian—because he feared his amateur kissing efforts turned her gay.
The City Slickers star was only seven when he fell for the unnamed school pal and was stunned when she made contact with him backstage at a recent show on his 700 Sundays tour in Boston.
He explains, "I get a note backstage at the Boston Opera House... and it's from the first girl that I ever kissed. I was seven-years-old, it was backstage at a school play—my first location romance.
"I was a horny little kid. I went right for it and, I've got to tell you, it's the first time I got excited and I was terrified.
"(But) she moved away, I had not seen her for 50 years and she writes in her note, 'Do you remember me?'
"I finish the show and I'm like nervous to see her: 'What's it going to be?' because, to my mind, she should look sort of the same—and she looks great. She still has the little girl face.
"I gave her a big hug and then she introduces me to her life partner, and, being the Jew that I am, I take it personally. I said, 'Is it me? Was the kiss that bad?' It took me two days to get over it."
