HOLLYWOOD - Former MTV favorite Carson Daly is set to become the first late-night talk-show host to defy the ongoing writers strike and resume production of his Last Call program.
Daly, who is not a member of the Writers Guild of America, will begin taping new episodes of his show later this week. They'll air next week.
The show joined all the other late-night shows that went dark and stopped production when the writers came out on strike on Nov. 5.
Contract talks between studio executives, producers and the writers union officials resumed on Monday.
The striking writers are seeking more royalty money for material distributed over the Internet.
