‘Dash And Lily’s Book Of Dares’ To Be Written/Directed By Lena Dunham

Lena DunhamGo world! We need more original and creative folks working behind the scenes these days, and I believe Lena Dunham to be one such person. And you know who else thinks that and actually has the ability to make things happen? Judd Apatow. Considering Apatow almost by himself gave Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, James Franco, Greg Mottola, and Jonah Hill to the world, I trust the man’s opinion.

Now word has dropped that Dunham has been selected to write and direct the adaptation of the children’s book Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares. The book follows two teens on an adventure through Manhattan, where the boy follows clues left in a book by the girl. Their adventure takes them all through the various landmarks of New York City and they have the eventual cute meet up (taking bets on the meet-cute. Central Park is going at 3:1). The novel was written by David Leviathan and Rachel Cohn, whose previous novel Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist was also turned into a movie.

Can we go back to Dunham for a second? She’s 24. She wrote, directed, starred, and produced in a twice Gotham-nominated feature film, Tiny Furniture. She’s working with Judd Apatow on a pilot for HBO which she will also produce-write-direct-star and now she just got hired for a big budget movie adaptation. I made breakfast this morning. I didn’t clean up, but I still managed to pour my own bowl of cereal. Yup, I’m doing awesome. Thanks!
