Larry David Denies 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Plot Follows His Own Divorce

Larry David and wife Laurie
HOLLYWOOD - Larry David has dismissed speculation his onscreen marital breakdown in Sunday night's episode of TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm deliberately mirrored his real life off screen.

The comedian's wife of 14 years, Laurie David, filed for divorce in July. The couple had announced their separation in June.

But David insists Sunday's episode--in which his onscreen wife, played by Cheryl Hines, walked out on him--was just a "very weird" coincidence, adding that he had written the scene long before his marriage disintegrated.

He says, "This was all written before any of my marriage problems. I knew when we were filming what was going on. Obviously, it didn't just happen overnight."
