If there's anything David Hasselhoff is meant to do, it's prop up his ailing career by playing a retired porn star. No, this is not me trying to write some clever joke because of all his shirtless Baywatch running or leather-pants-clad pop singer days. This is what's actually happening to Sons of Anarachy next season. The Hoff will take a role as Dondo, a former porn star and acting porn mogul who once worked with the since deceased porn queen Luanne. In what TV Guide refers to as a "meaty role," Hasselhoff will get into some less-than savory activity in Luanne's memory.
Now look, Sons, we were excited about adding Danny Trejo to the biker gang mix. That was a promising tease. This new addition, however, worries me. Hasselhoff is a gimmick, and to an extent Trejo is too, but Trejo is a gimmick that fits. The Hoff has become a sort of walking cartoon, not to mention, I suffered through his sleuthing abilities on Baywatch and they aren't exactly top notch. We'll see what sort of material Kurt Sutter and crew deliver for this unseamly plotline, but as a fan of the show, I've certainly got some reservations.
