Uber-screenwriter
David Koepp
has been brought on to pen the script for
The Thin Man
, the long-in-the-works remake with
Johnny Depp
attached to star.
Depp is reportedly more interested in speeding up the process for
Thin Man
-- in which he'll play the lead role of unconventional detective Nick Charles made famous in the
1934 original
by
William Powell
-- after his
Lone Ranger
project
fell apart recently
.
Koepp is one of the biggest names in screenwriting, having scripted tentpoles like
Jurassic Park
and
Spider-Man
, as well as the upcoming
Men in Black 3
. He also directed Depp in the 2004 thriller
Secret Window
. Depp is, of course, coming off the box office success of
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
, directed by
Rob Marshall
-- who will helm
The Thin Man
.
