De Niro, Hill Tipped To Be Joining Rodriguez' 'Machete'

Bloody Disgusting is reporting a tip from one of its "regular scoopers" that Robert De Niro and Jonah Hill have joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez' Machete. Rodriguez is co-directing the film with Ethan Maniquis. De Niro and Hill would join Danny Trejo and Michelle Rodriguez.

Machete, drawn from a faux trailer in Rodriguez' section of 2007's Grindhouse, is to start filming later this month. The story follows a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade who hides out as a day laborer and is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator.

De Niro would play the senator while Hill’s character is tipped as "Julio."
