HOLLYWOOD - As far as the court of law is concerned, Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan are officially splitting up. Almost two weeks after the shock announcement of the Hollywood couple’s "mutual and amicable" separation, the 46-year-old "Frequency" actor filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court today, formally putting an end to their nine-year marriage.
Quaid, 46, and Ryan, 38, first met on the set of the 1987 comedy "Innerspace." They got engaged in 1989 and tied the knot on Valentine’s Day in 1991. They produced one son, Jack, in 1992.
Before today’s event, the ex-couple's uncoupling has been the subject of much tabloid headlines saying that Ryan and her current co-star, Russell Crowe, were reportedly getting it on while shooting "Proof of Love" in England.
