Nature has claimed its next victim. Seth Green, who's likeness was motion-captured for the upcoming Disney family film Mars Needs Moms!, will not provide his voice for the character of Milo in the March 11th release. A reliable source tells us that while Green did all the motion-capture scenes, the studio wanted a child's voice for the performance.
Enter young Seth Dursky, who will provide dialogue for the character. Even though Green, who turns 37 today, has long voiced teenager Chris Griffin on Fox's Family Guy, the Mouse House deemed his pipes too grown up for a younger character and decided to record Dursky's voice instead.
You can hear the contrast in pitch and timber by viewing the original trailer for the film below and comparing it to Sunday's Super Bowl spot here:
The difference is obvious, but the reasoning isn't. Green's voice is synonymous with youth and not just because of Family Guy. His characters have always been on the immature side (that's a cool thing) and I actually like his iteration of the Milo character more than Dursky's. We'll see what kind of impact the change ultimately has on the picture when it hits theaters next month.
