DreamWorks Already Preparing 'Real Steel' Sequel

Real SteelReal Steel -- you know, that Hugh Jackman movie which finally gives our world the much-needed Rocky/Transformers mash-up that we've been missing -- is getting a sequel. The crazy part? The first film doesn't release until October 7. DreamWorks apparently doesn't really care about that as they've commissioned John Gatins to write the next one, but they have good reason. Supposedly, the Shawn Levy-directed film is getting a "strong response to internal screenings," and frankly, that isn't surprising. After all, Real Steel is basically an over-sized sizzle reel of things Americans love: boxing, father-son struggles/bonding and exploding robots (LOTS of exploding robots). Toss in a free Big Mac with the movie ticket and they might as well release the sequel on July 4th weekend.
