HOLLYWOOD - Teen actress Hilary Duff is amazed she is still dating Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden—because she only gave him her telephone number out of politeness when they first met.
The 18-year-old star, who has been dating Madden, 26, for 18 months, even snubbed his phone call that evening, because she had no intention of having a relationship with someone nearly nine years her senior.
She says, "We met through a mutual friend—Joel put me on the spot in front of a load of people and I couldn't say no because I didn't want to seem rude.
"He called me that night but I didn't pick up.
"When he called a few days later we talked for about an hour, which was odd seeing as I didn't know him!
"I thought he was attractive after seeing him in magazines. I had no idea he liked me."
