Clint Eastwood seems to have a smart plan -- quit while you’re ahead.
The five-time Academy Award winning actor and director has no plans of appearing in films after starring in Gran Torino.
"That will probably do it for me as far as acting is concerned," the 78-year-old told the U.K. Telegraph. However, he stressed that he had no plans to stop directing.
"You always want to quit while you are ahead," he said. "You don't want to be like a fighter who stays too long in the ring until you're not performing at your best."
Gran Torino, in which Eastwood stars and directed, will be released in January; it revolves around the relationship between a disgruntled war veteran and his young neighbor, an Asian-American teen who tries to steal his prized possession, a 1972 Gran Torino.
Of course, it's probably important to note Eastwood 's use of the word "probably." A friend of the actor told the UK paper he would never rule out an acting comeback for the veteran star. “If something comes along that attracts his attention or demands his involvement and he is still able to consider acting in a picture then who knows? Gran Torino was such a movie."
