Ellen Barkin appears set to join the cast of Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler's upcoming NBC pilot The New Normal.
The concept of the single-camera sitcom reportedly centers on a gay couple and their relationship with the woman who ultimately becomes their surrogate and helps them become parents -- with Barkin playing the surrogate's mother.
Glee writer-producers Adler and Murphy have quite the TV resume -- including Chuck and the massively popular American Horror Story, respectively. Murphy, no stranger to stepping behind the camera, will direct at least the pilot episode of New Normal.
