Elton John Will Host and Perform on 'SNL'

Elton JohnSaturday Night's alright for fighting, but now it's alright for a totally different reason. It turns out, on April 2 Sir Elton John will be hosting Saturday Night Live AND serving as the show's musical guest. I never thought I'd see the day when Elton John would share a very specific category with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. That's quite a sundry bunch, ain't it?

It seems that John won't be whipping out that Saturday Night anthem (aww, shucks) because he'll be taking the stage with his most recent partner in music, Leon Russell to promote their joint project, The Union. This will be John's second stint on the sketch show's stage since 1982. I'm not really sure what to expect from this hosting selection because it could be awful, but it's also got potential to be kind of amazing. Remember back when John McCain hosted and he turned out to be hilarious? Yeah, it's kind of lack that. Only McCain doesn't have a background of performing insane musical numbers with Muppets and enough rhinestones and glitter to make Lady Gaga's balloon of a head spin. I'd say this one's worth marking down in your calendar just to see what's in store.
