HOLLYWOOD - People are in offices all day--they don't really want to come home and flip on the tv to watch other people trapped in cubes, except of course there is the rare exception of the hit comedy The Office. This may have been one of the downfalls of Jerry O'Connell and Niecy Nash’s new [umm, now already old] hotel workplace comedy Do Not Disturb.
There was talk of the show being canceled only after three episodes airing but it's now official. A network spokesperson confirms to E! News that Fox has canceled the series Do Not Disturb.
Do Not Disturb had averaged four million viewers and was so poorly reviewed that its production team wrote a letter of apology to some critics. “We deserve all the criticism, the bad puns (i.e., ‘an early checkout from the fall season,’ ‘Do Not Make in the First Place,’ etc.) and, yes, even the accusation that it very well could be the final nail in the multicamera sitcom’s coffin,” the producers wrote in the letter, Variety reported.
Wow, that’s rough when you feel the need to send a letter of apology.
Luckily Nash kept her 'day job', two in fact, to fall back on--she hosts the Style network's Clean House and has a gig with the gang at Reno 911.
These are back-to-back cancelations for O'Connell --his never seen Carpoolers, another work themed show but filmed mostly inside the car during the monotonous drive to the office, which aired on CBS.
At least O'Connell has his statuesque baby mama, Rebecca Romijn, to fall back on.
What returning shows are you looking forward to for Fall 2008?
Which shows are overrated? Underrated?
Any shows in danger of being canceled? Think Cavemen from last year.
