Filmmaker Optimistic About 'Blair Witch' Prequel

HOLLYWOOD - Filmmaker Eduardo Sanchez hasn't ruled out the possibility of filming a prequel to his independent horror hit The Blair Witch Project, even though studio bosses aren't currently interested.

Sanchez and his fellow director Daniel Myrick shocked the film community in 1999 when their $35,000 budget movie went on to take $240 million worldwide.

And, despite the failure of 2000 sequel Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, Sanchez refuses to give up hope of a third film in the franchise.

He tells Fangoria magazine, "I'd love to do another, especially a prequel about Elly Kedward.

"We've given it a lot of thought and there's even a pretty good treatment, but we'll have to wait and see what the people at Lions Gate have to say about it."
