HOLLYWOOD - A man who allegedly plagued actress Jodie Foster with threatening letters has been arrested on charges of mailing a bomb threat to a Los Angeles airport.
Michael Smegal, 42, of Massachusetts, was charged on Tuesday with mailing the threat, which included the words "Jodie Foster S" and "going to be a gas bomb this building (sic)," to the Van Nuys Airport in December last year.
Police claim Smegal sent a further 100 almost identical letters--some of which also mentioned Foster--to the addresses of celebrities, businesses and airports.
Prosecutors say Foster first began receiving anonymous letters and packages from Massachusetts in 2004.
If convicted, Smegal faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
