Fox Leads Monday Night TV


HOLLYWOOD - The Fox Network's "Ally McBeal" and "Boston Public" won the final Monday of the February sweep in the 18-49 demographic with its usual strong showing. Surprisingly though, Fox also had the most total viewers with 13.6 million, beating out CBS, whose "Everybody Loves Raymond" was still the most-watched show of the night.

Within the 18-49 demographic the 8 p.m. time slot was dominated by Fox's "Boston Public," which 13.5 million people watched. By 9 p.m., the audience ready for some heart-warming sentiment as Robert Downey Jr. returned to "Ally McBeal," garnering 13.7 million viewers. CBS stronghold "Everybody Loves Raymond," hot off its recent TV Guide Awards triumph, dominated its 9 p.m. slot with 17.9 million viewers.

Overall, ABC finished fourth for the night with 11.9 million viewers, NBC came in third with an average of 12.7 million, and ABC was fourth 11.9 million.
