Fox to Cancel 'House' After Eight Seasons

After months of feverish speculation, Fox's celebrated series House M.D. has finally learned its fate. Deadline.com reports that the network today decided to cancel the one-hour drama, which stars Hugh Laurie in the title role as a crazy doctor who finds wacky remedies to obscure medical conditions by day and pursues questionable lifestyle choices by night, after eight seasons. The decision will allow House creator David Shore enough time to craft an appropriate ending to the series, which enjoyed strong ratings but was ultimately deemed too expensive by Fox network executives.
