"Frasier" writer honored posthumously
HOLLYWOOD - David Angell, co-creator and writer for NBC's Frasier, will be posthumously honored Saturday by the Writers Guild of America at its annual awards dinner, the Associated Press reports.Angell will receive the Valentine Davies Award (named for the writer of Miracle on 34th Street) in recognition of the "dignity" and "honor" Angell brought to the profession of writing.
Angell--who died on Sept. 11 with his wife, Lynn, aboard the hijacked American Airlines flight 11 from Boston--wrote for Frasier and Cheers and won eight Emmy Awards between the two series.
His award will be accepted by Peter Casey and David Lee, former partners and creators of Frasier and Wings.
