Gap Store Goes Hollywood

The Man Who Wasn't There
HOLLYWOOD - What's great for the masses is still good for superstars, apparently.

Retail chain Gap, with its middle-of-the road prices for trendy threads, now has high-profile Hollywood directors to thank for its new series of television ads, the BBC reports.

Directors Cameron Crowe (Vanilla Sky, Almost Famous) and the Coen brothers (The Man Who Wasn't There, Fargo) collaborated on the new black-and-white 30-second spots. Of course, their casting is just as glamorous.

Gap is known for creating simple, star-studded ads, but these spots are even more A-list than those in the past, starring Dennis Hopper, Christina Ricci and Kate Beckinsale, all donning the chain's new summer fashions.

The commercials, which are set to debut today, are reportedly meant to have the feel of short films. Either way, it's a lot cheaper than buying a movie ticket.
