Warrior director Gavin O'Connor has struck a detail to helm the action thriller The Samurai, Deadline.com reports. Co-written by O'Connor and Michael J. Wilson, the story concerns an assassin who escapes from a Texas jail and becomes the target of an international manhunt that takes him to Costa Rica, Colombia, Paris and finally back to America.
O'Connor is also at working planning a stage revival of The Hustler, Walter Tevis' novel that served as the inspiration for the 1961 film of the same name. Renee Zellweger is said to be attached to the project.
