It's Showtime for Gay-Superhero Series

Stan Lee at the World Premiere of
Showtime is developing a series that will center on an up-and-coming gay superhero. Take that, HBO!

Variety reports that comic-book god Stan Lee will be heavily involved in the project, just one of many (i.e., Thor, Captain America, Iron Man 2) currently on his plate.

The series is based on Perry Moore’s book Hero, in which a gay superhero struggles with his secret identity.

Moore (exec producer of the Chronicles of Narnia movies) is writing the script and will serve as a co-producer.

Showtime has no less than a half-dozen other shows in development as the network continues to duke it out with HBO for cable supremacy.
