Genie Awards Go 'C.R.A.Z.Y.'


HOLLYWOOD - French-Canadian gay drama was the big winner at the 26th Annual Genie Awards in Toronto last night, picking up an impressive ten trophies.

Jean-Marc Vallee's movie follows in the footsteps of fellow homosexual drama Brokeback Mountain, which has won a host of awards this year.

C.R.A.Z.Y. was honored with Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Michel Cote and Best Supporting Actress for Danielle Proulx.

Following in second place with three wins, Deepa Mehta's Hindi-language film Water picked up Best Cinematography, Best Original Music Score and Best Actress for Seema Biswas.

Meanwhile, Atom Egoyan picked up Best Adapted Screenplay for Where The Truth Lies.
