HOLLYWOOD - George Clooney is such a loner in real life--known to have said on a number of occasions that he enjoys his bachelorhood and doesn’t want to marry again—he’d make the ideal Lone Ranger.
Johnny Depp's involvement in the big screen adaptation of the long-running 1950s TV show The Lone Ranger, as the loyal sidekick Tonto, was recently confirmed by Disney Studio’s bosses.
So, of course the next question is: Who’s going to play the Lone Ranger?
Ain’t It Cool News reports: “Word as of now is that George Clooney has shown a lot of interest in the role of the Lone Ranger, and the studio's been talking to him about it. Previously it was rumored that Nic Cage was up for the role, but that rumor died a long time ago. Clooney's name has come up quite a number of times since.”
Just imagine Clooney galloping up on his horse Silver to save the day--and as fast as he's arrived, he's off, "Hi Yo Silver, Away!"
The screenplay will be penned by Pirates of the Caribbean writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio.
