Goody's widower considered suicide over rape trial

Jack Tweed, who married Goody a month before she lost her battle with cancer in March 2009, served two jail sentences during his relationship with the star after he was convicted of attacking a teenager with a golf club in 2006 and assaulting a taxi driver in 2008.

Tweed's legal troubles spiralled again last September (09) when he was arrested and charged with raping a teenage girl at a party.

The 23 year old went on trial in April (10) and was cleared of the charge, but Tweed admits the accusation took a toll on his mental health and at his lowest point, he considered killing himself.

He tells Britain's The Sun, "I was proved innocent. Because of my behaviour in the past I knew everyone would assume I was guilty, even though I wasn't, and I knew I had let Jade down.

"I thought about hanging myself but I was too much of a coward. I'm not brave like Jade was. I have a lot of regrets but I am lucky that the truth finally came out and I was acquitted. Now I just want a chance to mend my ways..."
