Gosselaar not Schroder's replacement
HOLLYWOOD - Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who recently joined the cast of NYPD Blue, rejects rumors that he was brought to the show to replace the departed Rick Schroder. "It was Rick's decision to leave," Gosselaar told syndicated columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith. The actor, known best for his role as Zack Morris in teen sitcom Saved By The Bell, says he does not believe that it was creator Steven Bochco's intention to write him into the cop series, although he had previously auditioned for Bochco's upcoming Philly series. "I think it's just how the circumstances unfolded," he said.
