Katy Perry is the latest to be added to the growing list of artists scheduled to perform at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. And while that in itself is pretty exciting news (who doesn't love a good K-Perry performance?), it's also worth noting that this will be the singer's first televised U.S. performance since her split with Russell Brand. Some might consider it un-wise to perform at such a monumentally public venue so soon after a serious breakup, but really if you're going to make a comeback, it might as well be on music's biggest night, right? I'm sure any good therapist would back me up on this.
There's no word yet on what particular song Perry will be singing, but her smash hit "Firework" is a nominee for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, so maybe that will be the song she chooses. However, I think it's safe to say she won't be belting out her latest hit "The One That Got Away," since it could hit a little too close to home these days. Either way though, Perry's sure to give a knockout performance, just like she has each and every time she's graced the hallowed stage.
The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will air live Sunday, February 12 on CBS starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
