Green Day dominates California Music Awards


HOLLYWOOD - Northern California punk band Green Day dominated the California Music Awards on Saturday in all eight categories in which the group was nominated. The band won artist of the year, outstanding group and outstanding album for Warning. Frontman Billy Armstrong earned outstanding male vocalist honors and songwriting props over, among others, Neil Young and Aimee Mann. Other winners at the 24th annual celebration included Santana, who received the Arthur M. Sohcot Award for Excellence, Incubus for outstanding rock album for Make Yourself, and the Deftones for outstanding hard rock/heavy metal album White Pony. Sammy Hagar received the Spirit of Rock Award.
