'Grindhouse' Films to Be Split in Two for International Release

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez
HOLLYWOOD - Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's double-bill movie Grindhouse will be split into two separate features following the film's poor box office in the U.S.

Grindhouse failed to impress at the U.S. box office when it was released last month, and producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein are determined to ensure the film escapes a similar fate in other countries, reports Empire Online.

Harvey says, "Based on U.S. audiences’ positive reactions to Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof and Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror combined with their resistance to the three-hour running time, we've revised our UK release plans to allow audiences the chance to see the films separately, like they will
be shown in all international territories."

Tarantino's installment, which stars Kurt Russell, will be released in the UK on Sept. 21; however, Rodriguez's zombie horror movie is yet to receive a confirmed release date.
