will become the highest paid actor in Hollywood history when he stars in a follow-up to
The Da Vinci Code
.
Columbia Pictures has reportedly agreed to pay
Hanks
between $29 million and $49 million to appear in
Angels and Demons
, based on an earlier Dan Brown book.
Hanks
was paid $25 million for the earlier movie.
Hanks
will reprise the role of Robert Langdon in
Angels and Demons
, which is set before
The Da Vinci Code
.
Jim Carrey
was the previous top earning actor, collecting $39 million for his role in
Cable Guy
in 1996.
