HOLLYWOOD
-
Tom Hanks
and
Steven Spielberg
are going back to war as the producers of a new cable TV miniseries about the World War Two battles between America and Japan.
The movie-star pals, who joined forces for
Saving Private Ryan
and acclaimed miniseries
Band of Brothers
, will revisit the Second World War again in
The Pacific
.
According to trade paper
Daily Variety
, filming on the ambitious project will start in Melbourne, Australia, where many U.S. troops were stationed, this summer. The miniseries is set to air in 2009.
The son of war historian Stephen Ambrose, whose writings inspired the
Band of Brothers
series, will serve as a consultant on
The Pacific
.
